Sacroiliac Joint Syndrome
Sacroiliac Joint Syndrome
Sacroiliac joint syndrome is a very common cause of low back pain and may account for up to half of all low back pain cases.
The sacroiliac joint is the large joint connection between the spine and the pelvis.

Symptoms
Symptoms commonly include local low back pain usually on one side (pain over sacroiliac joint) which can refer to the groin, hip, buttocks and posterior thigh.
Pain may be worse with bending, sitting, riding in the car and walking and is relieved by recumbency (decreased weight bearing).
Your chiropractor will take a detailed history and examination to determine whether the sacroiliac joint is the source of your low back pain.
Patients respond very well to chiropractic manipulation to restore normal joint motion, along will joint mobilisation, muscle therapy, stretching, heat and pain medication. You may be prescribed rehabilitation exercises to help prevent reoccurance, in which aerobic conditioning and core body muscle strength are fundamental.
