DROP PIECE

A drop piece table is a special device that a chiropractor can use to mobilize a restricted or stiff joint in a very controlled and safe manner. The drop piece itself is a section of a chiropractic bench that has an adjustable resistance setting.  The mechanism is raised a very short distance so that when the chiropractor applies a mobilization to a patients restricted joint, the table drops at the same time. Although this creates an audible noise, the adjustment is light and non painful with no reduction in its effectiveness.

While drop piece tables can be used on any joint in the body including the extremities, the most commonly adjusted area is the lower back and pelvis.
